TOOLKIT FOR FUN WAYS TO PREVENT LEARNING LOSS!
Summer is on its way, bringing family vacations, friends, and fun in the sunshine. Time away from school can sometimes lead to learning loss, but it doesn’t have to. Warm weather and extra time can also lead to: reading!
Educators can do a lot to support students over the summer months by simply helping parents and caregivers encourage reading at home. You’ll be amazed at the difference you can make in promoting student growth and preventing learning loss just by engaging students in productive activities they enjoy.
Pro Tip: Give students a challenge to complete a certain number of books before they head back to school! Create awards and incentives for your own identified milestones (e.g., ice cream sundaes for every 5 books read). Have fun!
If your students are currently using Learning A-Z solutions, here’s a reminder of some of the resources they can use! Or, access this handy summer reading list for students from Raz-Plus. Just share the summer toolkit with families, and have them log into the students' Kids A-Z accounts to get started. Caregivers can also monitor their child's progress through the Parent Portal.
Be sure to download and share our toolkit for caregivers to use through the summer break, including tips for reading with students and a reading log to track books read.
