Internet Keep Safe Coalition certifies that the entire suite of literacy-focused solutions from Learning A-Z meets rigorous student data privacy standards and complies with federal and state privacy laws
TUCSON, AZ—Nov. 8, 2018—Learning A-Z today announced that all nine of its products have earned FERPA Certification, COPPA Safe Harbor Certification, and California Student Privacy Certification (CSPC) from the Internet Keep Safe Coalition (iKeepSafe), a nonprofit that certifies technology used by children and in educational settings. iKeepSafe tested and approved Raz-Plus, Reading A-Z, Headsprout, Raz-Kids, ELL Edition, Science A-Z, Writing A-Z, Vocabulary A-Z, and ReadyTest A-Z, certifying that each product meets its rigorous standards and complies with federal and state laws governing student data privacy.
Learning A-Z products blend traditional teacher-led instruction with robust online resources to support differentiated instruction and blended learning. Because digital resources are a cornerstone of its product offerings, Learning A-Z is committed to making it easy for districts to safeguard student data and privacy while empowering teachers with the tools they need to have a greater impact on student learning.
"We pride ourselves on being an education technology company that puts online safety and privacy first," said Patrick Marcotte, president of Learning A-Z. "When students engage with a Learning A-Z product, district and school leaders and teachers can be assured they are working in a safe digital environment that meets the highest standards for privacy and security."
iKeepSafe, which is driven to improve transparency around student data privacy, certifies that technology used by children in educational settings meets the complicated and demanding standards of compliance required by federal and state laws. iKeepSafe’s FERPA Certification ensures schools that they can rely on products to adequately safeguard the privacy of student data. The COPPA Safe Harbor Certification ensures that practices surrounding the collection, use, maintenance and disclosure of personal information from children under the age of 13 are consistent with principles and requirements of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). The CSPC builds on these certifications to help educators and parents find products that meet the expectations of federal and California laws governing student data privacy.
