Join us on May 22, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. CST as Learning A-Z hosts a live webinar with the Springfield Public School District.
Geared toward supporting school and district administrators as districts deal with schools closed during the coronavirus pandemic, this live webinar will focus on a presentation by Springfield’s curriculum directors and other district leaders, followed by the opportunity for attendees and organizers to ask questions and guide the direction of the day’s talk.
Topics to be addressed will include Springfield’s approach to transitioning to a virtual learning environment, their strategies for teaching and supporting distance learning, and how they’ve been able to achieve success while responding quickly to crisis. Some of their efforts have included:
- Extending print and digital access to ELA and science curriculum resources for more than 12,000 students (more than half of which are Title I)
- Their summer learning plans for students who are lagging behind
- Supporting more than 700 teachers with resources to facilitate week-by-week lesson planning, daily instructional schedules, and student activities
- Delivering tablets/laptops and internet access quickly to families in need
- Keeping parents informed and engaged throughout the process
During this live webinar, attendees will discover:
- How the Springfield district was able to address and maintain equity during the process of quickly transitioning to a remote, blended learning model

Meet the speakers:
- Allison Pilley has served as an educator and administrator for 15 years. Currently the Director of Learning Support (Curriculum Director), she has also worked as an 8th grade math teacher, a middle school assistant principal, and a middle school coordinator, all within Springfield Public Schools. Allison holds a PhD in educational leadership from Lindenwood University.
- Ann Wallenmeyer has been leading K-12 science curriculum for Springfield Public Schools since 2002. Ann holds a master’s degree in secondary education, emphasis in biology, from Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri.
- Matt Rosebrough is the Elementary Literacy Coordinator for Springfield Public Schools, Missouri’s largest accredited district. He supports instruction for English Language Arts and Social Studies in K-5 classrooms. Matt holds a master’s in administration from William Woods University.
