RtI Instructional Model

Learning A-Z's six sites cover the full-range of RtI resource needs (Tiers 1, 2, and 3)

Reading A-Z — As part of an RtI program, Reading A-Z is invaluable for large class instruction (projectable books), small-group (multi-leveled books), or individuals (leveled readers, pocketbooks). Covering 27 levels of difficulty spanning Pre-K to G6 readability, Reading A-Z provides a host of other helpful resources that help differentiate instruction, including lesson plans, Reader’s Theater scripts, activity sheets, high-frequency words, assessments, fluency passages for timed readings, correlations to state standards, and more. For students needing specific instruction on decoding words, the site offers a systematic phonics program with lessons for all the key phonetic elements, decodable books, worksheets, and more. English, Spanish and French resources also apply to many students in RtI. Tiers 1, 2, 3.

Raz-Kids — With hundreds of interactive online books and 500+ eBooks, all at 27 levels of reading difficulty, Raz-Kids provides engaging, online reading practice — a key need for students requiring extra help. The classroom management tool lets teachers track student progress and the motivational “Raz-Rocket” encourages and rewards students for reading and taking quizzes. Student-based interface frees up teacher time, while helping students practice and improve reading performance. Tiers 1, 2, 3.

Writing A-Z — Writing and reading are closely connected and reinforce each other. Writing A-Z offers a wide range of resources to teach students at multiple levels of writing proficiency, across the most common genres, including expository, narrative, persuasive, procedural, and transactional. Also includes mini-lessons targeting key skills and writing tools, such as story prompts, story cards, graphic organizers, rubrics, and more. Tiers 1 and 2.

Vocabulary A-Z — Building vocabulary is a critical part of helping a struggling student improve his/her comprehension skills. Vocabulary A-Z provides more than 12,000+ words placed in content-area, functional, and resource-correlated categories. The site also provides customizable lessons that, through repeated exposure, provide the depth of instruction needed for all levels of intervention. Tiers 1 and 2.

Science A-Z — Materials are multi-leveled, covering 10 reading levels across K-2, 3-4, and 5-6 developmental stages. Allows teachers to teach science concepts at each student’s appropriate reading level, seamlessly blending literacy and science. Tiers 1 and 2.

Reading-Tutors — Provides more than 400 downloadable resource packets for use by those facilitating more intensive one-to-one tutoring. Covers key reading skills, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Also helpful for parents and others in need of developmentally appropriate materials for use at home or school tutoring programs. These resources have been shown to achieve compelling gains in reading performance (one month of performance gain for every one month of tutoring when used by tutors 4X per week during 30 minute session). Tiers 2 and 3.
